Yes. NTSB Chair Jennifer Homendy said the five people killed—and five injured—when an Amazon cargo plane overran a runway at Miami International Airport on Sunday were in two vehicles on the ground, not on the aircraft.
Homendy said the Boeing 767-300, operated by 21 Air and arriving from San Juan, Puerto Rico, struck a contract cleaning company’s Ford van carrying seven people, then broke through a perimeter fence and hit a Toyota with three people inside. The jet came to rest about 1,300 feet beyond the paved runway. Investigators have recovered the flight recorders but have not yet determined a cause.
