Yes. Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Energy temporarily shut the East-West oil pipeline as a precaution after drones struck facilities in the Riyadh and Medina areas, causing injuries and damage. The roughly 1,200-kilometer (746-mile) Aramco-operated line runs from the Abqaiq oilfield in the east to Yanbu on the Red Sea.
In recent months the pipeline had been moving about 4 to 5 million barrels of oil per day—roughly 4 to 5 percent of global supply—helping bypass Strait of Hormuz disruptions. Iraq said the drones originated in Maysan province and dismissed a local military commander while opening an investigation; Saudi Arabia said it would not retaliate “at this stage.”
