Vilnius Airport suspended arrivals and departures for about 38 minutes on September 13, 2026, after radar initially suggested a possible drone in Lithuanian airspace. Lithuania’s National Crisis Management Centre said a NATO fighter scrambled from Šiauliai visually identified the contact as a flock of birds, after which the yellow air alert was lifted and the airport reopened. Officials noted that bird flocks and drones can look similar on early radar readings.
