As of September 11, 2026, the Pennsylvania Department of Health reported 676 confirmed measles cases across 37 counties, with 124 hospitalizations and 2 measles-associated deaths counted in that official update. The department also said 52 of those cases were newly confirmed since September 9, and that only four cases (less than 1%) involved people who were appropriately vaccinated for their age.
After that statewide update, a Jefferson County coroner reported a 40-year-old woman’s measles-related death on September 12–13; state health officials said they were reviewing that case under their measles-associated death definition, so it was not yet reflected in the September 11 death total.
