Yes. Radiologists are medical doctors. According to Cleveland Clinic, licensed radiologists complete medical school and hold a Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree.
After medical school and licensing exams, they complete a residency of at least four years in radiology. Many also finish a one- or two-year fellowship in a subspecialty such as interventional radiology, pediatric radiology, breast imaging, or radiation oncology.
Radiologists specialize in diagnosing and treating conditions with imaging such as X-rays, CT, MRI, ultrasound, and nuclear medicine. That differs from radiologic technologists, who operate imaging equipment but do not make medical diagnoses.
