Yes. On October 3, 2026, the United Arab Emirates prosecutor general said the co-pilot of flydubai flight FZ1073 attacked the captain with a cockpit crash axe and tried to take control of the aircraft in what UAE authorities described as an attempted terrorist attack.
The Israel-bound flight from Dubai, carrying more than 170 people, plunged about 17,000 feet (5,200 m) before passengers and crew subdued the attacker. Reserve pilots then landed the plane safely in Saudi Arabia. The captain, Smit Machchhar, was injured and later reported to be recovering.
