How many people died in the October 2026 Catalonia storm?

Two people died. The storm that hit Catalonia, in northeastern Spain, on October 3–4, 2026 killed two men: a 65-year-old who died when a wall collapsed at a campsite in Tordera, and a man found in a flooded parking garage in Montornès del Vallès. A young man swept away by a stream in Pineda de Mar was still missing on Sunday night, and the search was set to resume Monday.

Catalonia’s fire service carried out about 2,440 operations, including 226 rescues, as roughly twenty counties were placed on maximum alert and travel was restricted. The rain also flooded parts of Vall d’Hebron Hospital, cut power to thousands of customers, and disrupted Rodalies commuter rail lines.
