Short answer: Shionogi agreed on October 5, 2026 to buy IntraBio Inc. for an upfront payment of US$2.0 billion to IntraBio’s shareholders.
The Osaka-based drugmaker said IntraBio, an Austin, Texas company, would become a wholly owned subsidiary of its U.S. unit, Shionogi Inc. The deal brings AQNEURSA (levacetylleucine), which is approved for neurological symptoms of Niemann-Pick disease type C and, since September 18, 2026, for ataxia in patients with ataxia-telangiectasia. Closing is planned for November or December 2026, subject to competition-law waiting periods and regulatory approvals.
