Russian President Vladimir Putin met U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner at the Kremlin on September 5, 2026, for three hours and 10 minutes, according to Kremlin aide Yury Ushakov.
Ushakov described the talks on ending the war in Ukraine as substantive, constructive, extremely frank, and trusting, saying serious issues were discussed both in a working setting and informally over lunch. The envoys were scheduled to continue to Kyiv the next day for talks with Ukrainian officials.
