Qantas cancelled its Rome to Perth service on Saturday, Oct. 10, 2026, because of a bedbug outbreak on the Boeing 787 Dreamliner that was due to operate it. On the previous day’s nearly 17-hour Perth to Rome flight, some passengers complained of being bitten, and the airline grounded the aircraft so engineers could carry out a deep clean after an issue was found on a small number of economy seats. Qantas apologised and said all affected passengers were given accommodation and rebooked on other flights within 48 hours of their original departure.
