Yes, ChatGPT is free: OpenAI’s Free plan is available to everyone at no cost on the web, iOS and Android, with unlimited everyday text chats with GPT-6, subject to abuse guardrails.
As of October 31, 2026, the Free plan gives limited access to file uploads, image creation, voice chats, deep research, memory, Codex and ChatGPT Work on desktop. Free users get the GPT-6 Luna and GPT-5 Thinking Mini models, a 27K-token context window for GPT Instant and slower response times when demand is high.
Paid plans add more. Go gives more messages with tools, uploads, image creation and voice, and may include ads. Plus adds advanced reasoning with GPT-6 models such as GPT-6 Astra and GPT-6.1 Sol, projects, scheduled tasks, custom GPTs and expanded Codex use. Pro comes in three usage tiers with the most access. OpenAI lists prices on its pricing page in your local currency. Content on Free, Go, Plus and Pro may be used for model training unless you opt out.
