Yes—but only some of them, and the 1st Edition stamp alone does not make a card valuable. A 1st Edition mark means the card came from the first production run of that set (Base Set, Jungle, Fossil, Team Rocket, Neo sets, and others), not that every stamped card is a rare trophy. Market value still depends on which Pokémon it is, rarity, condition, and collector demand.
As of mid-August 2026, price guides show that even strong Unlimited chase cards can be worth hundreds raw and five figures in PSA 10, while a common 1st Edition card in played condition can still be worth only a few dollars. Base Set Machamp is a useful example: nearly every copy shipped as 1st Edition in the 2-Player Starter Set, yet raw copies were still only around the low tens of dollars in recent CardTrack data—proof that the stamp is not a blank check.
To check a card: look for the circular “1 / EDITION” stamp on the left of the artwork box, note the set and card number, grade condition honestly, and compare recent sold listings rather than asking prices.
