Are piles curable?

Often treatable — and many cases improve — but not always permanently “cured.” Piles (haemorrhoids) are swollen blood vessels in and around the anus. According to the UK National Health Service (NHS), they frequently get better on their own after a few days, especially with more fibre and fluids, less straining, and pharmacy creams or ointments for itching and pain.

If home care is not enough, hospital options include rubber band ligation, sclerotherapy, electrotherapy, or infrared coagulation to shrink or remove the piles. Surgery is used for large or stubborn cases. The NHS notes that treatment does not always stop piles from coming back, so prevention habits matter.
