No. Nikita Khrushchev never made it to Disneyland during his 1959 tour of the United States, because local police said they could not assure his security if he went.
The Soviet leader spent September 19, 1959, in Los Angeles. A State Department report on the visit, published in the Foreign Relations of the United States series, lists the Disneyland refusal among several “Los Angeles irritants” that day. The others included a one-line welcome speech by Mayor Poulson at the airport, the absence of the public from the arrival ceremony, and sparse crowds along his routes through the city. Khrushchev publicly complained about the Disneyland decision at a luncheon at 20th Century Fox, where he also had a heated exchange with studio president Spyros Skouras. That evening, at the city’s civic dinner, his frustration boiled over into a threatening display of anger. The report says he regained his composure as he traveled on and kept it for the rest of the trip, which ended with his return to Moscow in late September.
