No. Christina Applegate said on October 20, 2026, that doctors have concluded she does not have multiple sclerosis (MS) and was misdiagnosed, roughly five years after she was first told she had the disease.
Applegate, known for Married With Children, Anchorman and Netflix’s Dead to Me, was diagnosed with MS in August 2021. She shared the news in a two-part episode of her Messy podcast. A few years ago, her doctor suggested pausing her MS infusion treatment to see how her body reacted; when it did not respond in a way that pointed to MS, further review found she did not have the autoimmune disease. Her symptoms have not gone away. She said she has gotten worse, is “back at square one,” and that an investigation into the cause of her daily symptoms begins next week. Dr Marwa Kaisey, a guest on the episode, said MS misdiagnosis is not uncommon because there is no single definitive test, only a list of criteria, and that one in five people told they had MS did not actually have it.
