Sunlight takes about 8.3 minutes (roughly 8 minutes 20 seconds) to reach Earth. Light travels about 299,792 kilometers per second, and the average Sun-Earth distance is about 150 million kilometers (1 astronomical unit).
The exact time varies slightly through the year, from about 8.1 minutes in early January to about 8.4 minutes in early July, as Earth’s orbital distance changes.
