Short answer: About 650. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said on Telegram that “650 drones were launched toward the Moscow region” overnight into Tuesday, October 6, 2026, and that most were destroyed by air defenses at long range. Moscow Region Governor Andrei Vorobyov said 185 drones were destroyed or neutralized over 16 municipalities in the region.

Vorobyov said the attack killed two men, aged 71 and 20, on the outskirts of Moscow and injured nine other people, and that 47 houses were damaged. Russia’s state news agency TASS called it the second-largest drone attack on the capital region in two years, and flights at Moscow’s four airports were repeatedly restricted.
