Was former Kentucky Gov. Matt Bevin arrested?

Yes. Former Kentucky Gov. Matt Bevin was arrested Thursday, Sept. 3, 2026, by the Bourbon County Sheriff’s Office while working as a featured extra on a Christmas movie set at a horse farm near Paris, Kentucky.

The arrest executed a June bench warrant from Jefferson Family Court Judge Angela Johnson for civil contempt after Bevin repeatedly failed to turn over financial records in a divorce and child-support case involving his adopted son, Jonah. He was booked into the Louisville Metro Detention Center.

On Friday, Sept. 4, Judge Johnson denied leniency and ordered Bevin to serve the full 60-day jail sentence, saying he had shown “complete disregard and utter disrespect” for the court. She said she may consider relief after 30 days if he demonstrates improvement.
