Yes. People with direct knowledge told CBS News that Iranian ballistic-missile strikes on Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan overnight September 8–9, 2026, damaged multiple U.S. aircraft. One A-10 Thunderbolt II (Warthog) was struck and left missing a wing, and roughly eight F-15s sustained light damage and were returned to service.
No U.S. deaths were reported in those strikes. The attack followed U.S. strikes that destroyed five Iranian oil tankers, and U.S. forces in Jordan reportedly fired more than 30 Patriot missiles in defense. CENTCOM had not issued a full public battle-damage assessment at the time of the CBS report.
