What are some omnivores that live in the ocean?

Ocean omnivores are marine animals that eat both plant material (including algae or seagrass) and animal prey. Many seafloor scavengers and some coastal sharks and turtles fall into this group.

According to NOAA Fisheries, adult American lobsters are omnivorous: they feed on crabs, mollusks, worms, sea urchins, sea stars, fish, and macroalgae (large seaweeds). Other well-documented marine omnivores include bonnethead sharks, which eat fish and crustaceans and also graze on seagrass, and hawksbill turtles, which prefer sponges but also consume marine algae and other reef animals.
