Monterrey defeated Club América 5–4 in a penalty shootout after a 2–2 draw in regulation in the 2026 Leagues Cup semifinal at Dignity Health Sports Park. Diego Rossi opened the scoring for Rayados, Ramón Juárez and Alan Cervantes put América ahead, then Lucas Ocampos equalized from the spot in the 69th minute.
Alan Cervantes was the only player to miss from the spot; Hugo Cuypers converted the winner, sending Monterrey to its first Leagues Cup Final against Toluca on September 6. Club América will play Club León in the third-place match the same day.
