Yes. Microsoft retired Publisher in October 2026: Microsoft 365 subscribers lost access to the app on or shortly after October 1, 2026, as a removal update rolled out, and support for the perpetual version ended on October 13, 2026.
What that means depends on how you got Publisher. Microsoft 365 subscribers can no longer open or edit .pub files in Publisher, and the app is no longer offered for installation or download. People with a one-time-purchase version, such as Publisher 2021, can still install and use it and keep editing their files, but it no longer receives security updates, fixes, or support. That October 13 date is when Office LTSC 2021 and Consumer Office 2021 also reached end of support.
Microsoft recommends saving Publisher files as PDF to keep their layout, then opening the PDF in Word if you need to edit the text, although graphics-heavy pages may lay out differently in Word. For flyers, calendars, labels, business cards, and programs, Microsoft points users to Word, PowerPoint, and the templates on Microsoft Create.
