Is Claude free?

Yes, Claude is free: Anthropic’s Free plan costs $0 and lets anyone chat with Claude on the web, desktop and mobile apps, with usage limits that reset every 5 hours and every week.

As of October 31, 2026, the Free plan includes web search, file creation and code execution, memory across conversations, connectors to your apps, Artifacts, Claude Design, Slides and Docs, voice mode and up to 5 Projects. Free users can use the Sonnet and Haiku models, but not Opus.

Several features need a paid plan. Claude Code, Research, Claude in Chrome, Claude for Microsoft 365 and scheduled tasks start with Pro, which costs $20 a month billed monthly or $17 a month with annual billing ($200 up front). Max costs $100 a month for 5x Pro usage, and Ultra costs $200 a month for 10x Pro weekly usage with no 5-hour limit for verified accounts. Anthropic says how fast you reach a limit depends on the model, chat length and file size, and prices exclude tax.
