Claude Max vs Ultra: what is the difference?

Claude Max costs $100 per month and gives you 5 times the Pro plan’s usage every five hours and every week, while Claude Ultra costs $200 per month, gives you 10 times Pro usage every week and removes the five-hour limit for verified accounts.

As of November 1, 2026, Anthropic’s pricing page lists Ultra as everything in Max plus that extra capacity. Max includes $100 a month in API credits for the Claude Platform, and Ultra includes $200 a month. Both plans include priority access at high traffic times and let Fable use up to half of your weekly limit.

Ultra replaced the old Max 20x plan. Anthropic’s help center says existing Max 20x subscribers moved to Ultra automatically with no price change. Both plans are billed monthly only, the listed prices apply to web subscriptions, and mobile prices may differ. Upgrading from Max to Ultra is charged on a prorated basis for the rest of your billing cycle. Choose Max for heavy daily use, and Ultra if you keep hitting the five-hour limit.
