Short answer: Yes. On Monday, October 5, 2026, Turkey, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia agreed to activate “deterrence measures” under their mutual defense pact and to rapidly deploy agreed military forces and capabilities to Saudi Arabia to counter attacks by Yemen’s Houthis. The decision was announced after the three countries’ defense and foreign ministers held an emergency meeting in Riyadh.
It was the first time the pact, known as the Mecca Alliance for Defence (also called the Mecca or Makkah Defense Alliance), had been invoked since it was signed on August 7, 2026. The agreement says an attack on any of the three countries will be treated as an attack on all of them, similar to a central provision of NATO’s founding treaty.
