How hot did General Fusion’s LM26 plasma get?

General Fusion said on October 8, 2026 that its Lawson Machine 26 (LM26) reached an electron temperature of about 1.1 keV, roughly 12.6 million degrees Celsius, using its Magnetized Target Fusion approach. The result was measured just before peak compression with Thomson scattering in collaboration with the UK Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA), which co-authored the technical paper.

The company calls it the first of three key technical milestones for LM26; the next target is compressional heating to 10 keV.
