Can you use a passport instead of a REAL ID to fly?

Yes. For domestic flights, TSA accepts a valid U.S. passport or passport card in place of a REAL ID-compliant driver’s license, and the REAL ID rules say a state card only needs to be compliant if you are not using an alternative document such as a passport or an Enhanced Driver’s License.

You only need one acceptable form of ID to fly within the United States. A REAL ID does not replace a passport for international travel, though, and it cannot be used for international sea cruises.
