Codex costs nothing beyond your ChatGPT subscription: OpenAI includes it in ChatGPT Free ($0), Go ($8 a month), Plus ($20 a month), Pro (from $100 a month), Business and Enterprise, and API-key use is billed at API rates.
As of November 7, 2026, OpenAI’s Codex pricing documentation lists Free and Go with GPT-6 Luna in the desktop app, subject to rollout. Plus adds Codex on the web, in the CLI, in the IDE extension and on iOS, along with cloud integrations such as automatic code review and Slack. Pro is sold at $100, $200 or $500 a month, and the $500 plan adds Ultrafast mode. Business costs $20 per user per month billed annually for two or more users, or $25 billed monthly, while Enterprise and Edu pricing comes from sales. Plus and Business users can buy ChatGPT credits to extend usage. Signing in with an API key instead charges standard OpenAI API token prices and removes cloud features. The Codex pricing page shows per-model usage ranges.
