Yes, DeepSeek can use your chats to train its models: its Terms of Use say it may use your inputs and outputs, after de-identification, to develop and improve its services and underlying technology, unless you turn off “Improve the model for everyone.”
As of November 3, 2026, DeepSeek’s Privacy Policy (last updated February 10, 2026) lists training and improving its machine learning models among the uses of your prompts, uploaded files and chat history, and says users have the right to opt out of that use. The data is collected, processed and stored in the People’s Republic of China.
DeepSeek’s Model Mechanism and Training Methods page says only a small portion of its optimization training data may be based on user input, and that such data is encrypted, de-identified and anonymized. To opt out, open Settings in the DeepSeek web app or mobile app and switch off “Improve the model for everyone.” You can also delete your chat history in settings, or email privacy@deepseek.com to exercise other privacy rights.
