Ten different companies, including Meta and OpenAI, have applied for the new .agent top-level domain, according to the application list ICANN (the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) released in October 2026. Seven applicants, including OpenAI, want .agi, and six, including OpenAI, applied for .asi.
The round drew 1,615 applications from 481 applicants so far, including 345 applications for branded domains such as .claude and .anthropic (Anthropic) and .chatgpt and .openai (OpenAI). OpenAI applied for 15 top-level domains in total and Meta for 21. Publishing the list is only one step in the process, and no new domain will become official before sometime in 2027.
