Perplexity Teammates are AI agents that take ownership of ongoing work, such as triaging bug reports or tracking metrics. Launched on November 4, 2026, they run inside Perplexity Computer, watch connected tools like Slack and GitHub, and coordinate other agents. The research preview requires an individual Perplexity Max plan.

What Perplexity launched on November 4, 2026
In its launch post, Perplexity describes teammates as personal agents for long-running work. They plan and coordinate projects, change course when priorities shift, and present results for review. You can inspect and guide their work along the way.
Teammates build on Perplexity Computer and work inside it with your tools and files. A teammate coordinates Computer sessions and other teammates, and it remembers project goals, task history and shared files across runs. Each new task builds on earlier work.
The help center guide lists the main capabilities:
- Multi-agent orchestration: a teammate breaks a goal into tasks, runs them in parallel across several agents and adds agents as the work grows.
- Desktop and browser use: each teammate has its own desktop and browser, so it can use sites that have no Connector. You can take over and steer it.
- Proactive monitoring: teammates watch connected tools such as Slack, GitHub and Linear and start work when something arrives.
- Ongoing responsibility: a teammate keeps its role until you change it, schedules follow-ups and keeps memory between conversations.
Teammates compared with Perplexity Computer
Perplexity’s own framing is that Computer could already handle complex projects, but setting up an agent to own ongoing work took planning. Teammates add that ownership layer. The table summarizes the difference based on the blog post and help article.
| Perplexity Computer | Perplexity Teammates | |
|---|---|---|
| Core unit | A task or session you start | A named agent with a standing role |
| Trigger | Your request | Your request, a schedule, or new activity in a connected tool |
| Parallel work | Computer sessions | Coordinates multiple agents and other teammates |
| Memory | Projects, skills and memory | Builds on those and keeps goals, history and feedback across runs |
| Where you reach it | Perplexity Computer | Teammates sidebar, plus apps in Slack, GitHub and Linear |
| Availability | Existing Computer access | Research preview, individual Max, web first |

How to set up a Perplexity teammate
You need an individual Max subscription with access to the research preview, a web sign-in, and access to the accounts your teammate will use. The steps below follow the official setup guide:
- If you are on Free or Pro, upgrade first: open your profile menu, go to All settings > Account, and under Your subscription choose Get Max or Upgrade.
- Hover over Teammates in the sidebar and select the plus button labeled Create teammate.
- Enter a name in Name or role and choose the teammate’s appearance.
- Open Advanced to add instructions or starting tasks. Describe the job, including a schedule if the work repeats, then click Create.
- Finish setup in the chat that opens. To add a service, ask the teammate, for example “Connect Slack,” then sign in and review the requested permissions. For GitHub, allow only the repositories it needs.
- To use a connected tool, expand Plugins in the right-hand sidebar, select Use a plugin, pick the tool under Installed, and describe the task.
- Assign the teammate to a Project and give it an initial task, such as researching a market or investigating bugs.
For Slack, name the workspace, channels, what to watch and when to report.
Writing a good teammate role
You can create several teammates, each with its own responsibility. Perplexity suggests that a job description cover four points:
- Source of the work: a Slack channel, an inbox or a repository.
- Expected output: a reply, a report or a pull request.
- Schedule or trigger: every Monday, or whenever a new message arrives.
- Audience: you, a channel or a team.
A sample instruction from the help center is “Monitor #acme-alerts. Reply to each bug report with a likely cause and a suggested fix.” To adjust behavior, reply in the teammate’s chat; it applies the feedback to future work.
How teammates run large projects
When you hand a teammate a large goal, the help article says it breaks the goal into tasks, starts extra agents for tasks that can run in parallel (each on its own computer), checks their results, and returns finished work such as a report, a pull request or a configuration change. After the work ships, it can keep monitoring and make updates.
One official example: watch GitHub, Linear and Datadog for new issues, reproduce them and open a pull request with a fix.
Plans, credits, models and limits
- Plan: research preview for individual Max subscribers only. Pro is not included. Enterprise Pro and Enterprise Max are not included by default; ask your admin.
- Price: the Max help page lists $200 per month or $2,000 per year, with annual billing available only on the web. See our Perplexity Max cost answer for more.
- Credits: Max includes a monthly credit allocation for teammates. Parallel agents, large files or codebases and frequent automations use more. Manage purchases and auto-refill on the Usage page.
- Models: new teammates default to Claude Opus 5.5. You can set a model per teammate, and Perplexity suggests a stronger model for planning and a faster, lower-cost one for routine work.
- Platforms: web at launch, with iOS coming soon.
- Security: teammates use your installed plugins and skills with the same permissions. Saved credentials are encrypted and hidden from the teammate, and each teammate has an isolated computer with separate browser sessions and cookies.
Perplexity says behavior may change during the preview and that it will expand access and features in the coming weeks. If you build on Perplexity through the API instead, see our Perplexity Agent Ultra guide; API usage is billed separately from Max.
Frequently asked questions
What are Perplexity Teammates?
Teammates are AI agents in Perplexity Computer that own ongoing work. You give one a responsibility, such as triaging bug reports or researching a market, and it plans the tasks, runs agents in parallel, monitors connected tools and returns finished work for your review.
Which plan do I need for Perplexity Teammates?
The research preview requires an individual Perplexity Max subscription, which costs $200 per month or $2,000 per year. Pro is not included, and Enterprise Pro and Enterprise Max accounts are not included by default; enterprise users should ask their admin.
Do Perplexity Teammates use credits?
Yes. Max includes a monthly credit allocation that teammates can use. Projects with agents running in parallel, large files or codebases, or frequent automations can use more credits. You can review usage, buy credits and set auto-refill on the Usage page.
Which model do Perplexity Teammates use?
New teammates use Claude Opus 5.5 by default. You can choose a different model for each teammate and change it later, and agents a teammate starts use its model unless you specify otherwise.
Can Perplexity Teammates work in Slack?
Yes. You can add a teammate to a Slack channel so colleagues can hand it work or ask for updates, and you can tag teammates as apps in Slack, GitHub and Linear. Teammates can also monitor those tools and act when something arrives.
Are Perplexity Teammates available on mobile?
At launch, teammates work on the Perplexity website. Perplexity says iOS support is coming soon, and the help center lists the web as the supported platform during the research preview.
