What is the largest ocean in the world?

The Pacific Ocean is the largest ocean in the world, and also the deepest. It covers roughly 165 million square kilometers (about 64 million square miles), which is about a third of Earth’s surface and more than all of the planet’s land area combined.

It stretches from the Arctic in the north to the Southern Ocean or Antarctica in the south, between Asia and Australia on the west and the Americas on the east. Its deepest point, the Challenger Deep in the Mariana Trench, is nearly 11 kilometers down.
